How We Make It Work
The numbers look good because we stick to a simple approach: take what people don’t want, sort it by hand, find new uses for as much as possible. Here’s what that looks like day-to-day.
It Comes In
Skip collections, people dropping off waste, construction materials. Everything arrives here at Lake Road.
We Sort By Hand
Our team goes through everything. Metal here, wood there, anything good enough for the ReUse Store gets pulled out.
It Gets New Life
Metal goes to scrap dealers, wood becomes bio fuel, good stuff gets sold in our store.

Six main services, all based here in Devonport. We try to keep things simple and straightforward.
Skip Hire – North Shore
Yellow skips delivered to your site across the North Shore and picked up when you’re done.
Same Day Skip Delivery
Call before 12pm and we'll usually get a skip to you the same day across Devonport, Takapuna, and Browns Bay.
Hand-Sorted Recycling
We go through every skip by hand to pull out anything that can be recycled or reused.
Fair Skip Hire Pricing
No hidden fees. Price includes delivery, pickup, and proper waste disposal.
ReUse Store
Good quality second-hand goods and clothing at decent prices. Everything here has been saved from going to landfill. Free parking.
Open 6 Days
Tues-Fri: 8am-4:30pm, Sat-Sun: 9am-4.30pm. New stuff arrives regularly.
Furniture & Household Items
Chairs, tables, books, tools, kitchenware. The occasional antique too.
Good Cause
Every purchase supports our community programs and local groups.
Waste Disposal
Bring your waste here and we’ll sort it properly. We take most things that other places won’t.

Education Programs
Noughty Wasters runs programs for kids to learn about recycling and waste reduction. Popular with schools and families.
School Holiday Programs
Two-hour sessions during holidays. Kids aged 6-12, booking essential.
School Group Visits
Classes can visit to see how recycling works.
Hands-On Learning
Kids see the sorting process, learn about waste reduction, and understand recycling.
Northshore Landscaping Supplies
Mulch, soil and aggregates, some made from our recycling process.
Recycled Materials
Mulch, soil and metal from our waste sorting. Sustainable sourcing.
Delivery Available
We can deliver across the North Shore. Small loads or truck quantities.

Good value because we make it ourselves from materials we recover.
Trailer Hire
Need to move something yourself? We hire out trailers by the half or full day. Well looked after and reliable.
Daily Hire
Trailers available for half a day or full day.
Well Maintained
Regular servicing and safety checks. We use these vehicles ourselves so they're looked after.

Here since 1977
The site’s been running since 1977. We’ve been operating it as a charity since 2012. Same approach – take what people don’t want and find ways to reuse it.
Most waste companies just dump everything in landfill. We go through every skip by hand and pull out anything that can be recycled or reused. Last year we diverted 78% of incoming waste from landfill.
As a trust, our profits go back to local community groups. We’ve supported North Shore Football Club, Restoring Takarunga Hauraki, and others.
