Community Recycling Since 2016

About Us

We're a charitable trust run by locals, for locals. Been here since 2016, keeping valuable materials out of landfill and supporting our North Shore community.

Resource Recovery Devonport is a registered charitable trust that operates the resource recovery site at 27 Lake Road. We’re part of a network of community recycling centers that work with Auckland Council.

Our main job is to divert as much waste as possible from landfill, but we also run a ReUse Store, sell landscape supplies, hire out trucks and trailers, and support local community groups with grants.

Our Story

Nearly 50 years of keeping stuff out of landfill

1977

The Beginning

A group of locals successfully lobbied Devonport Borough Council to begin New Zealand’s first municipal recycling scheme. The pioneers.

1980s-90s

Leading Change

The operation became an example that helped change waste management practices across the rest of the country.

2012

Charitable Trust

Resource Recovery Devonport Trust was established as a registered charity, formalizing our community focus.

Today

Still Here

The site’s been diverting waste from landfill for nearly 50 years. We’ve been running it as a charity since 2012, keeping the same approach, waste diversion and building community connections.
