Recent Projects We’ve Supported
Here are some of the community groups we’ve been able to help with grants and funding recently
Restoring Takarunga Hauraki
We’re proud to be a major sponsor of Restoring Takarunga Hauraki’s work for the local environment. We provided a $30,000 grant to help them build their community nursery. Over several months with help from community members, the Ngau-te-ringaringa Community Nursery is now up and running.
What they’re doing:
Growing native plants for community planting projects, available for purchase to support future operations. Visit or volunteer at 27A Lake Road, Darce Park – Tuesday 1-3pm, Thursday 3-5pm.
Ngataringa Organic Society
Our grant helped with crucial repairs and improvements to their kitchen and meeting room facilities, creating a clean, dry space that serves as a hub for garden activities.
“We are truly grateful for the partnership with Resource Recovery Devonport in our shared commitment to fostering a vibrant and eco-friendly community. Your support strengthens our sense of community and empowers us to continue our mission of sustainable gardening practices.”
– Kerry Chamberlain, NOGS
Impact:
The space hosts committee meetings, social gatherings, workshops, and community events including playcentre and pre-school visits.
March Children’s Athletics
Our funding has ensured this classic community event continues, providing around 100 tamariki each week with athletic activities in a non-competitive environment.
“Resource Recovery Devonport’s funding has ensured this classic community event has continued. By having RRD’s support, it allows our tamariki to challenge their bodies while learning specialised skills and fostering leadership in our high school students.”
What it provides:
Athletic activities, skill development, and leadership opportunities for high school students who run the stations and support younger participants.
North Shore United Football Club
We provided $11,000 towards clubroom improvements, helping enhance facilities for one of the North Shore’s key sporting organisations.
Community benefit:
Better facilities for hundreds of local players and families who use the club, creating a stronger community hub for North Shore football.
